Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressing the National Assembly urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to constitute a full bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on the polls delay case.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, PM Shehbaz said it is contrary to the requirements of justice to have the decision taken by the sitting three-member bench.
He said the nation will accept the decision of the full court if the Chief Justice constitutes it as the coalition government had also expressed no confidence in the existing bench and demanded a full court.
He said in the House that the Chief Justice says many people speak in the Assembly after being jailed, adding that former Prime Minister Imran Imran Niazi sent him to jail twice and also wanted to send him for the third time because his only thought was to put the opposition in jail.
PM Shehbaz said he has not served jail time in any criminal case and got bail during Imran Niazi's tenure and now is present in this honourable House. He also added that is it a matter of disrespect or honour.
Shehbaz Sharif also said if Imran Niazi's wife was not a public office holder, and his niece Maryam Nawaz was not either, then why was she arrested?
