In all 12 persons, including five children, were killed in Balochistan in different monsoon rains-related incidents such as lightning, roof and wall collapse since June 9, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), detailing the loss of lives and damage caused to properties in different districts of the province, 32 persons, including 10 children and three women, were also injured in these incidents.

The PDMA has said Dera Bugti bore the brunt of these rains where two people lost their lives while 25 were injured there.

Furthermore, the report has said that out of a total 263 homes damaged in the province, 91 were completely destroyed.

Similarly, it says that crops grown over 312 acres of land and 19-kilometer-long roads were also badly affected. “As many as 106 cattle also lost their lives due to lightning and other factors,” the report reads.   

The report has further said that the PDMA, along with the concerned district administrations, were busy in relief and rescue activities. “Relief items are being distributed to the victims of the natural calamity,” it has informed.

Rains forecast for Sindh until August 6

On the other hand, monsoon rains, accompanied by strong winds, have been forecast for Karachi and other parts of Sindh until August 6 due to the presence of a strong monsoon system in the Indian state of Rajasthan and over the Arabian Sea.

Rains were reported from different cities of Sindh during the last 24 hours.

Although intermittent rain in Sukkur and its suburbs provided relief to the people from hot and humid weather, yet at the same time, it turned low-lying areas into pools of water besides resulting in power outages.

Similarly, rain in Mohenjo Daro and outskirts came as a pleasant surprise for the heat-stricken locals who at last heaved a sigh of relief.  

Likewise, light to heavy rain, reported from Qambar and its adjoining areas, resulting in the tripping of several feeders that ultimately led to the suspension of power supply to different city areas. 

Tangwani also received a downpour. Although strong winds accompanying the rain resulted in a drop in temperatures, at the same time low-lying areas were flooded and power supply was suspended too.
