Three PTI women parliamentarians escaped disqualification as the Islamabad High Court dismissed the petitions seeking the disqualification of Kanwal Shozab, Tashfin Safdar, and Malika Bukhari.

Earlier Islamabad High Court had reserved the judgment before giving a verdict in the favour of the women legislators as the petitions “did not fulfil the merit”.

Justice Amir Farooq remarked that these petitions filed by the PML-N did not fulfil the merit.

The PML-N’s National Assembly members Tahira Bukhari and Shaista Pervez Malik had filed a petition under 62(1)F seeking the disqualification of the PTI lawmakers. The petition argued that Malika Bukhari and Tashfin Safdar had concealed their dual citizenship, while Kanwal Shozab was accused of lying about the change of vote.
