Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani welcomed the new leader of the house, Ishaq Dar who formally joined the session of the upper house of the parliament after taking oath, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Monday.

Last week, the Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjarani administered the oath to senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar as a senator.

The oath-taking followed recitation of the Holy Quran after which Dar was sworn in.

PTI senators gathered near the rostrum and chanted slogans against Dar.  Some of the opposition senators were also carrying placards and posters.

Sanjrani repeatedly exhorted the rowdy senators to return to their seats but to no avail. Later security personnel were called in.
