Balochistan monsoon rains: death toll rises to 39 as damage escalates

The ongoing damage from the recent monsoon rains in Balochistan continues to mount, with five more people reported dead in different areas of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the death toll from the rains, which have been ongoing since June 20, has now reached 39.

The PDMA reports that a total of 18 people have been injured due to the heavy rains, while 920 houses have been completely destroyed.

Additionally, 14,324 houses have been partially damaged, and over 112,000 people have been displaced across the province.

The floods have also taken a toll on livestock, with 473 animals reported dead. The agricultural sector has suffered significant losses as well, with crops on 60,000 acres of land damaged.

Infrastructure has not been spared, with seven bridges and 179 kilometres of roads damaged by the relentless rains.
