The PML-N candidate of NA 249, Miftah Ismail, on Friday challenged the results of NA-249 Karachi by-election which he lost to PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhail, reported 24News HD TV channel.
PPP won the seat by a thin margin of 683 votes on Thursday. Miftah Ismail submitted three different applications to the Returning Officer of NA-249 in this regard.
He demanded recounting of the votes. He also requested the details from the Election Commission of Pakistan. Miftah further demanded a forensic audit of 15 polling stations.
Earlier, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz tweeted that the election was stolen from PML-N by only a few hundred votes. Her Twitter statement reads, “ECP must withhold the results of one of the most disputed & controversial elections. Even if it doesn’t, this victory will be temporary, and will Insha Allah come back to PML-N soon. The vote is getting respect and will continue to get it.”
