Food Minister vows not to leave small famers alone

Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin Tuesday vowed the small farmer will not be left alone in any case, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.

During a meeting with opposition members, he admitted that the wheat should not have been imported. “We vehemently condemn the needless and untimely wheat import.”

Bilal Yasin said a fact-finding committee has been formed on wheat import. “The committee report will be made public soon,” he said, adding that there is a need to work on the wheat procurement policy presently.

He apprised the opposition that the federal government has talked about increasing the purchase of wheat.

Bilal Yasin also noted that the suggestions on the matter offered by the opposition leaders in the meeting.
