Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, Thursday awarded certificates of appreciation to several officers for their exemplary performance in their respective duties.
The officers honoured include Additional Director Aamir Nawaz, Deputy Director Bahawal Ostu, and Sub-Inspector Mehran Khan.
Additional Director Aamir Nawaz and Deputy Director Bahawal Ostu were particularly recognized for their exceptional work as circle in-charges. Under the leadership of Deputy Director Bahawal Ostu, the State Bank Circle Karachi successfully seized machinery and medicines used to produce counterfeit drugs valued at over PKR 90 million. Additionally, they recovered 178,000 US dollars and over PKR 50 million in 11 separate cases.
Director General Jahangir commended the officers for their efforts in cracking down on cybercrime, illegal referral trade, and the sale of counterfeit medicines. He emphasized the importance of FIA's role in curbing such illegal activities and highlighted the need for more effective measures in collaboration with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to prevent the distribution of fake medicines.
The spokesperson for the FIA reiterated the agency's commitment to actively combating racketeering, the sale of counterfeit drugs, and cybercrime.
