The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects, including a proclaimed offender, for their involvement in the heinous crime of human trafficking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
The suspects were identified as Sanam Zeb and Hanuk Masih, who collected millions from innocent citizens in the name of employment abroad.
According to a spokesperson of the FIA, the arrests were made during major operations of the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore, under the direction of Director FIA Lahore Zone Sarfaraz Work. The crackdown on human smugglers is part of the FIA's efforts to curb illegal migration and protect the rights of Pakistani citizens.
The spokesperson said that Sanam Zeb had deceived a citizen to get a job in the UK and received more than Rs3.9million from him. A case was registered against him in the year 2022 in the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore. Hanuk Masih, on the other hand, had received Rs 7 lakh from another citizen for sending him abroad. Both the accused were arrested from different areas of Lahore and Okara.
The spokesperson added that the FIA has started an investigation against the arrested suspects and is conducting raids to arrest other accomplices. The FIA has appealed to the public to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to human traffickers who exploit their dreams of a better life abroad.
