Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Mian Javed Latif has said that the opponents want to make the general elections controversial warning that the situation of the country will worsen in case polls are not held, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media in Lahore on Saturday, the former federal minister said that the words of ‘Don’ and the ‘Sicilian Mafia’ have not been taken back till today.

“But sometimes a person is called innocent or sometimes he is greeted with the words ‘good to see you’ (in the court),” Javed Latif said sarcastically.

He went on to say that there was no level-playing field in the 2018 general elections for them but the word ‘innocent’ wasn’t used then. He said no level playing field was given to a person who did everything for the country.

He maintained that the opponents want to make the elections controversial. “They want to wrap up the little bit of democracy which has been left.”

He said that not only the democracy but the country will suffer if elections are not held.

He said that they are trying to create a wedge between the institutions and the people.

“If someone says that the incident of May 9 is not a crime, then change the constitution.”

The PML-N leader said that they fought the Senate polls without an election symbol, and then no one raised a voice. At that time, no one said that injustice should not be done to a party having a two-thirds majority. Someone is popular on social media too.

He lamented that on social media, a propaganda campaign is going on.

The former federal minister said that in the past, decisions were made in the Supreme Court on someone's wish, today it is said that attendance is necessary for bail.
