The fate of Shehbaz Sharif, the president of PML-N, hangs in the balance as his nomination papers for NA-242 Karachi have been challenged by a rival candidate, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
Masood Khan Mandokhel, the candidate of PPP, has filed objections to Shehbaz Sharif's papers, alleging that he did not disclose his salary and perks as the prime minister of Pakistan, nor did he provide the money trail for his foreign assets and loans to his family members.
The returning officer has reserved the decision on the matter after hearing both sides.
Shehbaz Sharif has claimed that he did not receive any salary or perks as the prime minister, and that he has declared all his assets and liabilities in the affidavit.
He has also accused the PPP of trying to sabotage his election campaign and malign his reputation.
