Since a large number of consumers switched to solar energy, approximately 3,15,00,000 electricity units have been added to the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) system through solar power net-metering connections in one month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
This has also benefited the consumers from inflated electricity bills.
According to sources, consumers got relief of Rs100 million in bills by generating electricity.
Moreover, consumers also sold the additional electricity generated by the solar system after consuming it themselves.
It is pertinent to note that the federal government has facilitated the consumers to increase the production of cheap electricity.
The consumers obtained connection from LESCO under net-metering project and bi-directional meters were installed to purchase and sell the electricity.
