In a significant move aimed at curbing the circulation of counterfeit currency and combating black money, the State Bank has announced its decision to introduce a fresh set of currency notes spanning all denominations.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmed while talking to journalists informally said the bank has taken a principled decision to introduce new currency notes of all denominations.
State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmed revealed that the forthcoming banknotes will incorporate cutting-edge international security features.
Jameel Ahmed said the upcoming currency notes are set to showcase distinct colours, serial numbers, and designs, along with advanced security elements to enhance their authenticity.
He said the State Bank has initiated the design framework for these new notes, which is anticipated to be finalized by March 2024.
Sources within the State Bank have indicated that the decision to introduce the new currency notes stems from the widespread issue of counterfeit notes reported across the country. This strategic move is expected to reinforce the country's monetary integrity and address concerns related to the circulation of fake currency.
