Kia launches 5th generation Sportage in Pakistan with upgraded features, powerful hybrid option

The much-anticipated Kia Sportage 5th generation has been officially launched in Pakistan at a grand event in Karachi.

The new model comes with a bold design, upgraded features, and, for the first time, a hybrid variant, catering to the growing demand for fuel-efficient SUVs.

Variants and features

Kia Sportage will be available in three variants:

Hybrid Variant (Flagship): 6L Turbo Hybrid (HEV) – All features, including safety tech

Mid-tier Variant: 2.0L Petrol FWD—Includes heated seats and a sunroof but doesn’t have safety assists.

Base Variant: 2.0L Petrol Alpha—Lacks sunroof and Harman Kardon speakers

Design and interior

The 5th-gen Sportage features a completely redesigned exterior with a panoramic black grille, boomerang-style LED DRLs, and a sleek rear with unique LED tail lamps. It also boasts a longer wheelbase, providing more legroom and improved comfort for passengers.

The SUV measures 4,660 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm and a ground clearance of 181 mm, making it ideal for city and off-road driving.

Inside, the Sportage boasts a dual 12.3-inch curved display (infotainment & digital instrument cluster), a dashboard with carbon fibre trim, 8 Harman Kardon premium speakers (top variant), wireless charging, and paddle shifters. The infotainment system supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable seats add to the luxury feel of the cabin.

Seat options include fabric, navy misty grey leather, and Carmine Red artificial leather, providing a premium feel across variants.

Engine and performance

The latest Sportage offers two engine choices:

The standard variant is powered by a Smart Stream 2.0L MPI petrol engine, delivering 154 HP and 192 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the hybrid variant features a 1.6L T-GDI HEV engine, generating an impressive 226 HP and 350 Nm of torque.

Both variants come with front-wheel drive (FWD) and multiple driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Smart, and Sport, while the Shift by Wire (SBW) transmission has seamless gear changes.

Safety and driver assistance

Kia has packed the Sportage with a host of safety features, including 6 airbags (the base model has 2 airbags), blind spot collision avoidance assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), smart cruise control, and a 360-degree surround-view monitor. Additional driver assistance technologies like Safe Exit Warning (SEW), Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist (HBA) further enhance security.

Pricing and availability

The official pricing for all three Sportage variants will be revealed on February 6. With its blend of luxury, technology, and safety, the new Kia Sportage is set to make waves in Pakistan’s SUV market.

However, according to market speculations, the 5th generation Kia Sportage is expected to cost between PKR 9.5 million and PKR 12.5 million in Pakistan. The price will depend on the variant of the car.
