The Jahangir Khan Tareen group, a union of disgruntled PTI lawmakers, has expressed their resolve to stand by MPA Nazir Chohan against, what they called, political persecution in the name of accountability, 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
The group released a joint declaration after a consultative meeting on Friday, stating that lawmakers have reiterated their pledge to stand firm against political 'revenge'.
It added that Nazir Chohan should not feel himself alone as the group is standing by him and they will show up at the court where the MPA is scheduled to be produced to show solidarity with the lawmaker.
The angry PTI parliamentarians heaped praise on Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi for releasing production of the MPA.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi yesterday showed anger at the FIA authorities for not producing the PTI MPA in the session despite the release of production orders.
He warned that if the PA orders are not be implemented, no law-making will be passed through the assembly. He asked the Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat if they (bureaucrats) want to be in a course of collision with parliament.
A report cited insiders as saying that the FIA did not bring the detained MPA as they could not get PM aide on accountability Shahzad Akbar's go-ahead.
On the complaint of Shahzad Akbar, the FIA arrested the Nazir Chohan on Wednesday and got a two-day physical remand from the court of Judicial Magistrate Yousaf Abdul Rehman on Thursday. He is due to be produced on July 31 (Saturday).
