PM yet to ‘accept’ Dr Ishrat Hussain’s resignation

Assistant to Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms Dr Ishrat Hussain has said that he has forwarded his resignation to the prime minister which has not yet been accepted, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

It is reminded here that 24News TV channel had broken the story of Dr Ishrat’s resignation yesterday (Thursday, July 29).

Prime Minister Imran Khan had assigned Dr Ishrat, who had also remained State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor, the task to introduce reforms in different institutions. However, he had developed differences with some people at the Prime Minister’s Office, which ultimately resulted in his resignation today.

Although he has submitted his resignation to the prime minister, the latter is still to accept it.

Former SBP governor also wrote to PM Imran that when he took office, he had thought he would stay there for a period of three years.

He said he had given 15 years of his 57-year service to the civil service.

However, he said that he would continue to serve the country in unofficial capacities.
