Claiming that there were sufficient proofs of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) receiving ‘prohibited’ funds from abroad, former Sindh governor and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Zubair Umar on Saturday said he was surprised as to why the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was not announcing the verdict it had reserved in the PTI’s foreign funding case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he asked as to why Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) was not taking suo moto notice of delay in decision in the case. “The case has been pending for the last eight years. It appears that there are two set of laws: one for 22 crore people of Pakistan, and the other for ‘ladla’ (blue-eyed boy),” he said satirically while referring to former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

“Imran. Don’t run. Answer the allegations against you,” Zubair said.

He also demanded that the story on PTI’s funding published in the UK’s Financial Times should now also be made part of the probe. “Imran, take the newspaper to the court if you think these allegations are false,” he added.

He asked when former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif could attend court hearings to answer corruption charges, what was stopping Imran from doing so.

Former governor also expressed his reservations over the bench constituted to give decision in the Punjab chief minister election case.
