Due to illness, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will not attend the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Prime Minister's schedule for the previous day was also cancelled and different engagements were postponed due to his health issues.
The sources said a scheduled meeting with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland was also postponed because of his poor health condition.
Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland is on her first official visit to Pakistan nowadays. She was welcomed at the airport by Additional Foreign Secretary Shafqat Ali Khan.
The sources in the Prime Minister's House said in the absence of PM Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will lead the Pakistan delegation at the oath-taking ceremony of the President-elect of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to the Channel, the oath-taking ceremony of the President-elect of Iran Dr Masoud Pezeshkian will be held in Tehran today (Tuesday).
The visit attests to the commitment by the two countries to strengthen leadership-level engagement and bilateral cooperation.
Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, a reformist politician and heart surgeon, began his presidential tenure when Iran hopes for greater freedom of choices for women domestically and while Israel-Hamas war threatens regional peace.
