Dozens of Nigerian nationals protested at the district courts in Lahore against the Nawankot police for allegedly arresting a Nigerian resident in a drug case on Tuesday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the protesters raised slogans against the police and marched around the court premises, raising their hands in protest.
The Nigerian protesters claimed that their fellow Nigerian was picked up from the Green Town area by Nawankot police and falsely accused of possessing one kilogramme of hashish.
They further alleged that the police demanded money for his release after the arrest.
As per the report, the Nigerian national was to be presented in the magistrate's court today after a two-day remand, but until filing this report, the police did not present him in court.
Advocate Waqar Ahmed appeared in court on Tuesday and appealed to the magistrate to order the police to present the Nigerian detainee, as they were allegedly delaying his appearance intentionally.
The court of the magistrate ordered the police to present the prisoner.
