Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar in his latest episode on Youtube talked about the death of famous Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput who committed suicide in his house.

He starts off by saying, “It left me very disturbed, I felt very sad about the incident. One thing about it is bothering me. I met him (Sushant) at Olive in Mumbai when I was about to leave India in 2016. A boy was approaching with long hair; I did not feel a lot of confidence when somebody told me he would be portraying the role of MS Dhoni in a biopic.”

Shoaib continued saying: “I thought I will have to watch his acting now. He has come from a humble background, and he is making a good film. The film did turn out to be successful. But one thing that bothered me was that I should have accosted him and shared my life experiences with him. This may have given him a broader spectrum in life. I regret not talking to him,” confessed Akhtar.

“It is not good to opt for the easiest escape — to kill one self. Setbacks are a part of life. When you are aware of your life’s problems, please share and discuss them with those close to you.” He then gave the example of Deepika Padukone and explained how she also had a problem, but that she opened up about it and said, “I need help,” the fast bowler explained.

“Sushant also needed such help, and probably he was taking it also. But he should have shared his problems with his strong-minded friends,” added Shoaib.

Sushant Singh Rajput death led to a deluge of tribute and recriminations on social media involving the Hindi film industry, which has been battling allegations of nepotism and cliques.

On 14 June 2020, Rajput, aged 34, was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan in his home in Bandra, Mumbai.

He had reportedly been suffering from depression for about six months. No suicide note has been found.

According to Mumbai Police IPS officer Vinay Chaubey, medical prescriptions and medical reports were found in Sushant's room and an investigation is underway.
