Unidentified attackers clubbed a 65-year-old elderly person to death and also injured his daughter after barging into their house in the Federal Lodges area of Johar Town, Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Zainab, 24, daughter of Muhammad Yousuf, one who was clubbed to death by the suspects, told the police that she was on the first floor of the house when two unidentified persons came.
“The accused came to me on the first floor of the house and told me that your father has been tied up with ropes on the ground floor. They hit me in the head with batons,” she maintained.
Mian Mohsin, son-in-law of the deceased, told the police that Muhammad Yousuf had four daughters and a son.
“My brother-in-law, the son of Muhammad Yousuf, works in Australia while my wife and her sister, who was injured due to torture of the accused, live in Lahore,” he added.
“My father-in-law Yousuf and sister-in-law Zainab were at home at the time of the incident. Zainab informed my wife, her sister, that the house had been attacked,” he stated.
“My father-in-law lived with her daughter Zainab at the house. She studies at the University of Central Punjab (UCP). We do not have any monetary dispute with anyone,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan took notice of the incident and sought a report from Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana.
The IGP ordered the police officers concerned to closely analyse the CCTV footage and other evidence to ensure immediate arrest of the accused.
“The accused will be punished as per the law. The heirs will be provided justice on a priority basis,” he vowed.
Lahore CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana sought a report from the Saddr superintendent of police (SP) and also issued orders for immediate arrest of the accused involved.
The Saddr SP, along with a heavy police contingent and forensic teams, reached the spot to collect evidence from the site of the incident.
The injured girl Zainab, 24, was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment. She told the police that two unidentified persons entered the house, impersonating bank employees.
She said that the accused attacked her, saying: “We are the bank employees. We had made a phone call to your house. You had hurled abuses at us.”
She maintained that she had saved her life by locking herself in the washroom.
Mian Mohsin, son-in-law of late Muhammad Yousuf, also told the police that his wife too had been receiving calls of a bank scheme for some days.
