Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa said on Saturday that it was not men’s honour, but their arrogance, which led them to kill women, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the symposium held in Islamabad on the topic, “Justice for Everybody’, the CJP said that no other religion in the world had given women the rights that Islam has given to them. “Our religion and the country’s constitution give women the right to get education and others.”

“The first word of the first revelation (Wahi) made to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was ‘Iqra’, which does not make any distinction between males and females,” he said.

The chief justice said there was a need to make education mandatory for children, from age 6 to 16.

He asserted that no country in the world could progress without the provision of justice.

He was of the view that the performance of several women reaching assemblies on reserved seats was better than that of men.

Justice Isa stressed the need for taking steps so that women could have representation in all walks of life.

The CJP lamented that not giving women their share in property was an issue in Pakistan. “This is despite the fact that Islam has made it clear that women too have share in ancestral properties.”
