Religious figures call for strict action against traders involved in these acts

Known religious figures of the country on Monday declared hoarding of essential items and profiteering un-Islamic and urged traders and businessmen to ensure smooth supply of daily use items to the market as the country prepares to deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

Representatives of Pakistan Ulema Council, Darul Ifta Pakistan and other religious organisations called upon the government to take strict action against those involved in hoarding and profiteering in the prevailing situation, seize their goods and distribute them to deserving people.

The decree was issued by Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Maulana Asad Zakriya Qasmi, Allama Abdul Haq Mujahid, Mufti Muhammad Umar Farooq, Mufti Muhammad Zia Madni, Mufti Hafeezur Rahman, Maulana Nauman Hashir, Maulana Muhammad Shafi Qasmi, Allama Tahirul Hassan, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Allama Zubair Abid and Maulana Hussain Ahmad Darkhawsti.
