The government has announced the Zakat nisab for the ongoing year, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on when Wednesday.
On the first day of Ramadan, the amount of Zakat will be deducted automatically on the amount of Rs88,927 or more.
After consultation with Religious Affairs, the SBP announced Zakat equal to the value of 52 tolas of silver.
Zakat will be deducted at the rate of two and a half percent from the customers who have Rs88,427 in the banks. According to the central bank, zakat will be deducted only from savings accounts, zakat amount will not be deducted from the current accounts and foreign currency accounts.
