The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is facing difficulties in achieving tax collection target for the month of March as the Board has yet to collect Rs44 billion by Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The FBR collected 835 billion tax by March 29, 2024 while the IMF had given it the tax collection target of Rs 879 billion.
According to report, FBR's tax target for the first 9-month of the current financial year was Rs 6707 billion.
The FBR collected 6666 billion till Friday. The government has directed to keep banks open on Saturdays and Sundays for collection of duty taxes.
The revenue collection teams were also making all possible effort to meet the shortfall on Saturday and Sunday.
The FBR will try its best to meet the shortfall of Rs44 billion in the last two days of the month. Tax experts say during Ramadan there was a slight decline in tax collection due to banks reduced business hours.
