Five children die, several injured in rain-triggered roof collapses in KP

Five children died while several others were seriously injured in a number of incidents of roof collapses amid heavy rain in several cities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Three kids die in Bannu


Three children died while another got injured as a wall of a house collapsed in Bannu district on Saturday.


According to rescue team, the victims were identified as Awais, Asim and Tanzila, while the injured was rushed to DHQ Bannu.


Two children die in Shangla


Two children died when roof of their house came down during heavy downpour in Shangla district.


According to rescue officials, during the rain lightning struck the house which resulted in roof collapse in Banda Cheena village of Shangla.


At least four children got buried under the debris of the roof. The rescue team retrieved two dead bodies while two kids were found seriously injured.


Police and rescue teams shifted the dead bodies and injured to a nearby hospital. 


Three injured in Bajaur roof collaps


Three people were buried underneath the rubble when the roof of a house caved in at Kharryan village of Bajaur due to heavy rain.


Rescue 1122 personnel, however, recovered those injured and shifted them to hospital.


Three wounded in Peshawar


Heavy rain resulted in the collapse of a roof at Warsak Road in Peshawar due to which three people, a woman and two kids, were buried underneath the rubble.


The Rescue 1122 personnel, however, managed to recover all three of them and shifted them to hospital.


PDMA report


At least five persons were killed and eight were reported injured due to rains for the last 24 hours, said  said DG Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday.


According to details, four houses were reported partially damaged. Four children and woman died while two women, two children and a man reported injured.


Apart from humans, reports about perishing of livestock has also been received. The Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has expressed grief and directed to provide relief and compensation cheques to the affected families.


He also directed for opening of closed road and provide facilities to people stuck in rains and landslidings. The Chief Minister also directed PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations to be alert and facilitate people.


Directives have been issued to all DCs in this regard. Anyone can call 1700 round the clock during any emergency situation.
