The writer of the popular ongoing drama serial ‘Ishq Murshid’, Abdul Khaliq Khan, has appeared as a guest in Something Haute’s show Haute Talk, hosted by Hassan Choudhary, where he disclosed the names of male leads who were being considered for Shahmeer’s (Bilal Abbas) character.
While discussing the matter, he mentioned his selection process for the main leads and how Bilal emerged as the ultimate choice for the role.
These four Pakistani heartthrobs are none other than Ahad Raza Mir, Bilal Abbas, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Wahaj Ali.
Here are the exact words of Abdul Khaliq:
“There were many names in my mind because we wanted to have the popular actors for the 8:00 pm slot because the hit actors get the attention of the fans.
We considered Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Wahaj Ali, and Bilal Abbas for the main lead.
Ahad Raza Mir asked for the complete script, which wasn’t possible. Hamza Ali Abbasi was busy with Jaan E. Jahan, although I wanted him to be in it as I was imagining him as Fazal Baksh and politician Shahmeer. Wahaj Ali was already doing Tere Bin, so we didn’t try for him much, although he was approached.
All four were approached, but luckily Bilal Abbas was the one who had the better understanding of our script; he just read the initial episodes and understood the character, which helped us a lot.”.

Netizens expressed gratitude that Bilal was ultimately selected for the role, as they believed no one else could portray it as impeccably as he does.
Many praised the other actors but emphasized that none could outshine Bilal in this particular role. Some argued that the drama's lack of a unique storyline was compensated by Bilal Abbas's captivating presence on screen, making it a massive hit. Viewers found it impossible to look away from this charismatic actor.
The director also revealed that Durefishan’s name was suggested to him by Siraj Ul Haq, and they all agreed to it.
It's worth noting that 'Ishq Murshid' is resonating not just in Pakistan but also in neighboring countries.
The classic love story has captured everyone's hearts, with the situational song 'Tera Mera Pyaar Hai Amar' playing a key role in the serial's blockbuster success.
