In a major breakthrough, a terrorist affiliated with Daesh [also known as ISIS] was arrested in Karachi, who had been previously associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The arrest was made by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh Police and an intelligence agency in a joint operation.
According to SSP Irfan Bahadur, Sikandar Khan and his accomplices were involved in extortion cases after he joined the ranks of Daesh in 2019.
He added that the police were conducting raids to arrest his associates while the recovered weapons would be sent for forensic audit.
During interrogation, Sikandar confessed that he previously worked for the TTP before joining the ranks of Daesh.
Sharing details, Irfan said the arrested terrorist was involved in dozens of serious cases, including those related to extortion, adding that several of these were registered with the PIB Colony and Korangi Industrial Area police stations.
In one of the cases, he sent an extortion chit to Dr Siraj in the PIB Colony and later fired at him besides throwing a bomb at his clinic for not paying the money.
Earlier in 2013, Sikandar was sent to prison after being arrested in several cases, including those containing terrorism charges.
