Former premier Shehbaz Sharif has greeted the office-bearers and supporters of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on the acquittal of ex-PM Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield reference
"Thanks be to the Almighty Allah who showed this day. Confinement, baseless cases and every method of torture including character assassination was used against Nawaz Sharif but the Almighty blessed him with triumph," he added.
He continued “I congratulate our leader Nawaz Sharif from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations to Maryam Nawaz Sharif who braved the oppression.
"I greet the party leaders and workers who always believed in the innocence of their leader. Salute to our brave leader who never lost courage in the toughest time of his life.
"Nawaz Sharif' stood firm and will remain so." He also expressed his gratitude to the judiciary.
The Islamabad High Court acquitted former three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield reference.
The verdict was pronounced by a two-judge bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
According to the report, the court acquitted Nawaz Sharif in Avenfield reference after withdrawing the appeal of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the acquittal of Nawaz Sharif in the flagship reference.
