FIA tightens grip on OGRA and oil marketing companies

According to sources, Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officials issued illegal petroleum marketing licenses while Energy Ministry officials issued illegal petroleum import quotas.

The FIA Lahore has registered cases against Fossil Energy and Askar Oil (Petroleum Marketing Companies) following an inquiry by the federal government into the petroleum crisis that erupted in June 2020.

Cases registered against Fossil Energy, Askar oil, Assistant Director Oil Imran Abro was arrested.

Sources said that FIA Lahore arrested CEO Fossil Energy Nadeem Butt, OGRA member Gas Amir Naseem, member Oil Abdullah Malik and DG Oil of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Shafiullah Afridi and Assistant Director Oil Imran Abro.

Petroleum marketing companies have set up a network of more illegal petrol pumps across the country than OGRA's approved petrol pumps in the country.

They are accused of colluding with illegal petroleum marketing license, illegal petroleum import quota and money laundering of billions of rupees to the national exchequer through the sale and purchase of illegal petroleum imports and money laundering.
