No company shows up to detonate Nasla Tower as per SC orders: Sources

Karachi Deputy Commissioner (District East) Asif Jan Siddiqui Saturday said local agencies do not have the capacity to demolish Nasla Tower as per Supreme Court’s orders, reported 24NewsHD TV.

Private companies were invited by Karachi Commissioner through an announcement in an advertisement that if they are interested parties can make contact in order to demolish the building.

“In this regard, no company has shown interest during the three days time that was allocated for this offer,” sources said, however, two days have passed since the Supreme Court's deadline to demolish the building within a week. 

Sources further claimed that the Karachi administration was considering a joint operation by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and other agencies were also pondering to hire private companies to demolish the building through detonation at the earliest.

Karachi Commissioner said that Nasla Tower has been in the government’s custody since the deadline expired on the night of October 27.

In light of the Supreme Court order, the administration has completed the first phase of the efforts to bring down the Nasla Tower and 98 percent percent of the tower's residences have been evacuated.
