Expressing optimism that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa would do justice during his stay in office, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed said on Wednesday that his elevation did not produce the desired results for the coalition government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media outside an accountability court (AC) in Rawalpindi, he said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would give a call for protests against the proposed 27th constitutional amendment. “So therefore, the government should now stop dreaming about it.”
The AML chief said there was no need to comment on what was happening to the ex-CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa. “I would again appeal to Army Chief General Asim Munir to show mercy on those who are languishing in jails in connection with May 9 violence because a poor man does not have the capacity to pay lawyers.”
Rasheed said that the JUI-F chief removed the extremely controversial points from the 26th Amendment.
