Rupee slide continues; US dollar touches historic high

The US dollar is showing a continuous upward trend against the Pakistani rupee as the greenback has reached the historic high after gaining 22 paisas against the rupee on Thursday.

The US dollar was being traded at Rs170.70 in the interbank trading, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to experts, the dollar has become costlier by Rs18.42 in four and half months. As the dollar rate is continuously getting high, an upward trend in the prices of imported articles could also be observed.

The economic experts predicted that all imported raw material including machinery would become dearer.

There is extreme pressure on the exchange rate owing to rising current account deficit, the economists explained.
