Considering a potential risk of data theft during cabinet proceedings and other official meetings, the federal cabinet on Friday decided to purchase 150 new advanced smart tablets to improve the security of the cabinet portal.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the sources said that the cabinet termed the quality of old tablets purchased in the previous government of PTI inadequate.
The sources said that the cabinet has now decided to purchase 150 new smart, advanced tablets for cabinet members, secretaries, the Prime Minister's Office, and staff of the Cabinet Division.
The sources further informed the channel that there is a proposal to relax the ban on import of the machinery and equipment to buy new tablets for high-ups.
The sources said for the purpose, a summary will be submitted to the ECC for approval soon.
In the previous government of Imran Khan, 150 tablets were purchased for cabinet members, secretaries and related staff.
