In a letter to the director general of Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department, the manufacturer of vehicle identification cards has demanded a 142 percent increase in the prices of the aforementioned cards, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the E&T sources, the company has demanded that the price of one smart vehicle identification card be increased by Rs612 to Rs1060.
It is to be noted here that the demand for the increase in the prices of smart vehicle identification cards came after the rise in the prices of crude oil.
It also merits a mention here that the price of one number plate had been increased from Rs1,500 to Rs2,000 during the ongoing month upon the request of the number plates manufacturer.
The final decision regarding increase in the prices of smart vehicle identification cards will, however, be taken by the E&T director general.
