FIRs of both the incidents of terrorism that took place in Mastung, Balochistan and Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) yesterday have been registered, whereas the death toll of the Mastun suicide blast has risen to 59, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a Civil Hospital spokesman Wasim Baig, 52 people had died on the spot in Mastung, six at the hospital while another succumbed to injuries in MBC Complex on Saturday.
An FIR of a suicide blast near a procession, taken out in Mastung in connection with 12th of Rabiul Awwal, has been registered against unidentified persons at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station.
Sections related to murder, attempt to murder and terrorism have been inserted in the case.
According to spokesman for the CTD, the incident is being investigated; however no arrest has been made so far.
Total 52 persons, including a police officer, were killed while 66 were injured in the yesterday blast.
However, the death toll of the Mastung suicide blast has risen to 53 today.
According to the spokesperson for the Civil Hospital, an injured person who was in the Intensive Care Unit at the Trauma Centre died today.
He further said that three injured people were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital due to their critical condition.
Mastung District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Nisar Ahmed said that 16 bodies were brought to the hospital while Shaheed Naqab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital CEO Dr Saeed Mirwani confirmed 32 bodies landed at the hospital.
Similarly, five bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital Quetta, the hospital’s spokesperson Dr Wasim Baig said.
Unverified images and videos emerging afterward showed corpses and severed limbs scattered at the site of the blast.
Mastung Assistant Commissioner (AC) Atta-ul-Munim said that the explosion took place when people were gathering for an Eid-i-Miladun Nabi procession near Madina Masjid at Alfalah Road.
The bomber detonated himself near the vehicle of the deputy superintendent of police (DSP),” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Munir Ahmed said.
Such processions are taken out every year on 12th of Rabiul Awaal to mark the birthday of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
FIR of Hangu suicide blast also registered
Likewise, an FIR of another suicide blast at a mosque in Hangu has also been registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station.
Sections related to murder and terrorism have been inserted in the case registered on the complaint of the SHO of the concerned police station.
At least five people were killed and 10 others were injured in the incident.
The explosion happened shortly after a similar incident in Balochistan’s Mastung district killed at least 52 people and wounded dozens of others.
