The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the petition to bar the arrest of Imaan Mazari, daughter of former federal minister Dr Shireen Mazari, in any other case till September 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Interior Ministry officials appeared before the court for the hearing of the petition seeking protective bail for Imaan Mazari and details of cases against her.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb conducted the hearing and questioned the Interior Ministry officials whether they called for the details of the cases filed against Imaan Mazari in provinces.

“A case has been filed against Imaan Mazari in Islamabad. The federal government cannot order the provinces in such cases,” the Interior Ministry officials told the court.

“What are you talking about? We have asked about getting information only,” the court remarked.

“We have received the order late. We need some time for that,” the assistant attorney general said to the court.

“We are afraid that Imaan Mazari will be arrested again from outside the Adiala Jail,” lawyer Salman Akram Raja told the court.

“What are instructions to the Interior Ministry?” the court inquired.

“She [Imaan Mazari] is in jail. You interrogate her, submit a challan, and get her tried. What she should have been said or should not have been said, the court will not say anything about it,” the court remarked.

The court also directed to convey its orders to the interior secretary in the case of Imaan Mazari.

The petition was then adjourned till September 4.

It is to be noted here that Imaan Mazari was arrested in the sedition case, and a plea was filed in the IHC to bar her arrest in other cases.
