Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and candidates approached the Election Commission of Pakistan against district returning officers and other state organs.
A total of 54 leaders and candidates of PTI submitted a joint application to the commission and made the federal, and provincial governments, DROs, Nadra, Pemra and PTA party in the matter.
They called for a halt to the ongoing actions against PTI leaders, workers and candidates, alleging that the PTI is ‘being subjected to retaliatory actions across the country and deprived of its constitutional right by the caretakers.
PTI candidates, their supporters and office bearers are being arrested from ROs offices, they alleged, adding that such actions were reported in 49 constituencies.
They complained: “ Nadra blocked the identity cards of PTI workers and leaders. The DROs are not taking any action in 17 districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Mianwali, Multan and Faisalabad.
"PTI workers are being harassed by the police. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as a party is not being given coverage on TV channels.
"The ECP should conduct free, fair and transparent elections. The commission should order the federal and provincial governments to stop such acts."
Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Munis Elahi, Jamshed Dasti, Sheikh Waqqas Akram Basharat Raja and other PTI leaders applied through lawyer Intizar.
