Punjab CM says govt assisting ECP for conducting free and fair elections

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that election campaign is everyone's right and the Punjab government is assisting Election Commission for conducting free and transparent elections in the country on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


He was talking to media during his visit to Rawalpindi Ring Road Project on Saturday.


The CM said that the process of elections is being conducted by the Election Commission and where there was any complaint, the government took action before the Election Commission.


He said that it is hoped that the next government will continue to work on projects at a faster pace than ours.


Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that 12 percent of the work on Rawalpindi Ring Road has been completed, a period of 2 years has been set for the completion of this project, but we are hopeful that it will be completed by August.


The completion of this project will greatly benefit the citizens of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Mohsin Naqvi said.


He said that the 38 km long Rawalpindi Ring Road project had been delayed for a long time.


The Rawalpindi Ring Road project is a motorway project in a way and is the biggest project of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi added.


He said that full compensation for land acquisition will be given to the owners, not even a single rupee will be left behind.


The CM said that ongoing projects in Punjab will be completed before the deadline.


Work is also in progress on Duduchha Dam, the construction of the dam will solve the problem of providing clean water to the citizens of Rawalpindi, said Mohsin Naqvi.


He said that Commissioner Rawalpindi has worked hard to solve the problem of water supply for the citizens of Rawalpindi.


Duduchha Dam will be completed in 2 years, Mohsin Naqvi informed.


Working on expansion project to solve traffic problems in Kacheheri Chowk, Rawalpindi, he said.


The CM said that Murree hospital issues have also been resolved on priority basis.


The number of promotions that have been done in every department including the police in 10 months has not been done in the last 10 years, Mohsin Naqvi said.


The CM said that promotion is the right of every employee that we have given.


Projects of other cities of Punjab including Lahore on one side and Rawalpindi projects on other side, Mohsin Naqvi said.


Mohsin Naqvi said that Holy Family is the largest hospital in Rawalpindi and we will complete it by January 31.


Mohsin Naqvi said that the hospital built in 1945 is getting new, beds and all basic machinery has been ordered.


The Chief Minister said that 5 major interchanges will be constructed on the 38 km ring road.


Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi inspected the ongoing construction works on the Rawalpindi Ring Road project.


Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also inspected the temporary bridge constructed on the Swan and appreciated the performance of the FWO team for working on the project at a fast pace.


During his visit, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi was briefed by FWO officials about the progress made on the project.


He was briefed that utility services in route to the project are being permanently shifted and 176 structures have been cleared and all land has been handed over to FWO.


It was also briefed that construction of underpasses, bridges and waterways has started and the machinery of the project was not passing through the bridge, now a temporary bridge has been built.


Provincial Minister Dr. Nasir Jamal, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Chatta, RPO, CPO, Deputy Commissioner, DG Ring Road Authority and FWO officials were also present on the occasion.
