The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal and sought reply on February 14 to explain as to why he did not initiate an inquiry against former military president Pervez Musharraf despite its orders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A division bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq, heard the contempt of court petition filed by Colonel (r) Inamur Raheem Advocate against the NAB chairman.
Speaking on the occasion, the petitioner’s lawyer said that the IHC in its verdict—dated January 25, 2018—had said that the bureau could initiate action against Musharraf since he was a public office holder.
When the CJ inquired whether that court’s decision had been challenged in the Supreme Court, the lawyer replied in negative.
The lawyer said as per the ECP record Pervez Musharraf had $2.0 million in his account.
