Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid has said the application filed against him at Aabpara Police Station is baseless, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

An application was filed at the Aabpara police station Islamabad for registration of a case against Sheikh Rashid for allegedly making allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The former interior minister was summoned to appear at the police station on Tuesday. However, the politician did not turn to the police station and submitted a reply through his lawyer instead.

According to the application, the AML chief claimed that Asif Ali Zardari has hired a “group of terrorists” to target PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan. The plea further stated that Shaikh also said attempts were being made to put the PTI chairman behind bars and disqualify him ahead of general elections.

The plea stated that Sheikh Rashid’s accusations are part of a conspiracy and intends to create threats for Zardari and his family.

The complaint said the baseless accusations were issued to create a rift between PTI and PPP and all those involved should be arrested.

In the reply of the application, Shaikh Rashid maintained that the petitioner hid his identity by attaching a fake identity card’s copy with the complaint.

“Sheikh Rasheed did not accuse Asif Zardari of Imran Khan's murder,” he said, adding that he just quoted from Imran Khan's statement.

“I neither have any evidence nor have anything to do with the matter.”
