Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz has said the people who smeared former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have met their fate.

Addressing a rally in Zafarwal, she recalled the Nawaz’s trial on corruption charges, conviction and her family’s ordeal.

She stressed she was unhappy with the former first lady’s punishment and questioned if such a figure walked free, saying: “I am not happy about his wife's punishment. Bushra Bibi was found guilty of stealing diamonds and jewels.

“Does the Prime Minister's wife steal? Should he be forgiven?

She added that they used to call people thieves in the past and  now the whole family has been proven to be thieves

“This is the result of their deeds,” she added.

The PML-N leader said that there was no allegation of theft against her but she was subjected to smearing and conviction as being the daughter of Nawaz Sharif.

"I have spent five months in a jail’s death cell but I did not even shed a tear. I understood that this was a trial from Allah, but love for the nation and Nawaz Sharif kept me going."

Maryam Nawaz urged the people to vote for the PML-N in the forthcoming election so that the journey of development Nawaz Sharif started after the 2013 election could be resumed.

In his address, former PML-N minister Ahsan Iqbal heaped praise on ex-PM Nawaz Sharif for what he called his leadership qualities and the development projects he launched in his previous rules.

He said Nawaz Sharif's popularity is increasing, stressing that Nawaz Shari is sitting in Lahore and residing in the hearts of the people of Zafarwal and other parts of the country.
