PTI leader Hammad Azhar has withdrawn his appeal against the rejection of his nomination papers from the Supreme Court and also announced his withdrawal from the elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A three-judge bench led by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case on Wednesday.
The assistant lawyer told the court that Hammad Azhar does not want to pursue the case.
Justice Shah asked why the high court gave reference to Article 62(1)(f). He remarked that the Supreme Court has decided in its judgment that Article 62(1)(f) cannot be applied automatically.
Lawyer Aftab Yasir said that the apex court has also given its decision regarding declaring someone an absconder.
Justice Shah said that if Hammad Azhar withdraws, he would not get any benefit from the court decisions.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel remarked that it seems that Hammad Azhar does not want to surrender.
Assistant lawyer Yasir said that it’s not a problem if he surrenders.
Hammad Azhar was contesting from NA 129 as an independent candidate.
In a surprising turn of events, another PTI supporter Sanam Javed on Monday decided to withdraw her nomination papers from NA 119 constituency.
Sanam was set to compete against Maryam Nawaz Sharif in NA-119, where the energetic election campaign led by the PML-N leader has heightened the political atmosphere of the constituency.
