In a significant development in the 7-year-old Sarim’s murder case, police conducted a raid on the flat of his madrassa teacher in North Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
A heavy police contingent, accompanied by lady constables, searched the apartment of Sarim’s relative and his madrassa teacher as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sarim was found dead in a water tank 11 days after he went missing.
During an earlier raid, police discovered medications and inappropriate videos in the teacher’s room, with evidence suggesting that he had recorded the videos himself.
The investigation has been delayed as the forensic lab requires additional time to complete the analysis.
Police revealed that multiple samples were collected from Sarim’s body, but prolonged exposure to water has compromised the DNA, making it difficult to extract clear results.
“DNA evidence is crucial in identifying the suspect,” a police official stated.
Forensic analysis of Sarim’s clothing is still ongoing, and investigators hope to find viable DNA traces that could provide a breakthrough.
To piece together the events leading to Sarim’s murder, police recreated the crime scene to establish crucial details. This included identifying who first noticed the smell and how Sarim’s body was retrieved from the tank.
During this exercise, police gathered key evidence, with the valve man, Sarim’s relatives, and other witnesses present to provide their accounts.
Sarim’s post-mortem report confirmed the horrific details of the crime, revealing that the minor was raped, tortured, and then murdered.
The medical report stated that Sarim was strangled to death, his neck was broken, and there were multiple injury marks on his body, confirming brutal violence.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the madrassa teacher, having recovered certain items from his residence and mobile phone.
Authorities remain hopeful that forensic analysis will soon provide crucial leads to identify the perpetrator.
