The process of the Lahore Cantonment Board elections has been started and a total of 353 candidates have been submitted their nomination papers to the authorities on Friday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the submitted 353 nomination papers of the candidates would be scrutinized in the next three days.
As many as 164 candidates in 10wards of the Lahore Cantonment Board and 189 candidates in 10 wards of Walton Cantt Board have filed nomination papers.
After the scrutiny of the eligible candidates, their lists would be places in the board office, and the election symbols would also be allotted to them on the same day.
All the mainstream parties including the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and the opposition Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid group), Jamaat Islami Pakistan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl group(JUI-F) and others fielded their candidates.
Mostly the candidates who filed their nominations on the board belong to Nawaz League and Tehreek-e Insaf. The JUI-F also fielded its eight candidates, five in Walton Cantt and three in Lahore Cantonment Board.
The PML-N has started its full-fledged election campaign in the cantonment areas.
The PML-N candidate Deputy Mayor Rao Shahabuddin campaigned in Ward number 9 Chacho Wali. He said that victory of PML-N in LCB elections is certain.
Another candidate of the PML-N Naeem Shehzad Bhatti from Bedian Road Ward number 8 started door to door campaign and called on the residents of the area for getting the votes.
He said that he wouldn't spare any effort to solve the problems by getting elected.
