Renowned English fast bowler Stuart Broad said he will retire from all cricket following the conclusion of the ongoing fifth Ashes Test against Australia at The Oval, describing his career as "a wonderful ride".

The 37-year-old seamer, the fifth most successful bowler in Test history with 602 wickets, told Sky Sports after stumps on the third day:

The pacer recently completed 600 Test wickets and also became the third-highest wicket-taker in Ashes history with 150 wickets, only behind Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.

He made his international debut in a T20 match against Pakistan at Bristol on August 28, 2006.

He has been one of the key members of the English team since his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2007.

"It's been a wonderful ride, a huge privilege to wear the Nottinghamshire and England badge as much as I have.

"I'm loving cricket as much as I ever have, it's been a wonderful series to be a part of and I've always wanted to finish at the top.

"This series feels like it has been the most wonderful and entertaining to be a part of."

Broad said he had been thinking of announcing his retirement for a long time but never really got the right opportunity to announce it. He informed his teammates in the dressing room about his decision.

For now, his entire focus and commitment is on the last Ashes Test where the pacer is going to give his all to make sure his team does not end up on the losing side of this quest.

The pacer represented England in 167 matches taking 600 wickets in his legendary Test career with his career best of 8-15 against Australia in 2015.

He did not only contribute in bowling, but he also scored 3,656 runs in his Test career with a career-best of 169 which came against Pakistan in 2010.

Broad also served his country in 121 ODIs and 56 T20Is and took 243 wickets in the process. His career-best figure of 5-23 in ODIs was against South Africa in 2008.
