The government has nominated two brigadiers from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI), along with a Joint Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), for a newly formed committee tasked with investigating the cases of missing persons.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this was informed by the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and IB to the larger bench of the IHC on Tuesday.

The hearing of the missing persons case was conducted by a three-member larger bench of the IHC, headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, with Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir as the other members.

During the proceedings, Justice Mohsin Kayani remarked that, as it was the first hearing by the larger bench, a procedure would need to be established.

He emphasised the need for specific directions based on the nature of each case, as the larger bench was constituted at the Chief Justice's request to address the missing persons cases.

Justice Mohsin Kayani noted that the court had previously formed a committee comprising the Directors-General of ISI, IB, and MI. However, upon the federal government's request, the committee's composition was to be changed.

A representative from the Ministry of Defence informed the court that two brigadiers from ISI and MI have been nominated, while the IB representative stated that Joint Director General Qazi Jamil ur Rehman would serve as the convener of the committee.
