Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Secretary General Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Wednesday and inquired after the health of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Quoting sources, the channel reported that both the leaders also discussed the situation arising out of the appointment of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani as opposition leader in the Senate.

Both the leaders agreed to oppose the appointment of Gilani as opposition leader in the upper House.

They both were of the view that there was a sense of despair in the PDM ranks due to the PPP’s brand of politics.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on the occasion, said that soon other parties, part of the PDM, would be consulted on the unilateral appointment of PPP’s Gilani as opposition leader in the Senate.

Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said that PPP, by getting its candidate appointed as opposition leader with the help of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), had disillusioned all and sundry in the opposition parties’ alliance.

Both the leaders concurred that a meeting of party heads should be convened to chalk out the future course of action.
