The saga regarding the Senate elections has taken yet another twist as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has refused to acknowledge Pakistan People’s Party’s Yousaf Raza Gilani as the opposition leader, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Wednesday.
According to the sources, the decision was taken in an important meeting of the PML-N.
Sources said the PML-N leaders have refused to acknowledge Yousaf Gillani as opposition leader in Senate saying that they cannot accept any person who has become the opposition leader with the help of the treasury benches and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
The PML-N said the appointment of the opposition leader through the government’s help was against the objectives of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
According to the sources, the PML-N and PDM’s 27-member opposition group will play its role separately in the Senate and PML-N’s Azam Nazir Tarar would lead this group.
