The united opposition on Thursday demanded that the government bring the alleged threat letter to the Parliament for a debate, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The opposition parties also decided not to attend the meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security called by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.
The united opposition also wrote a letter to the National Assembly speaker, urging him to include the election of a new prime minister in the agenda of today’s lower house session.
Earlier, the opposition during a meeting prior to the National Assembly session unanimously agreed to push for the no-confidence motion through legal and constitutional ways.
“The no-confidence motion will not be withdrawn,” agreed the opposition parties.
To a question of 24NewsHD that “Will the opposition attend the meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security?” Shehbaz Sharif had said that it would be decided after consultation.
However, sources privy to the development had confirmed to 24NewsHD that small parties in the united opposition were not in favour of attending the meeting.
Meanwhile, leaders of the opposition parties started arriving in the Parliament for the session of the lower house.
Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, Pervaiz Ashraf and Khawaja Asif were among them.
It is to be noted here that the no-confidence motion is on the fourth place of the agenda of the national assembly.
